Marv Rosenthal founder and president of Zion’s Hope, says about Overcomer:

“Two novels, two home runs; in her current book appropriately called Overcomer Ms. Wisen once again demonstrates her wonderful writing skills and braod knowledge of the last days which lead to the second coming of Christ.
What will it be like during the reign of the Antichrist? And how will he entice or force men and women to take his mark? Some may question a few of her views, but none should question her passionate and powerful challenge to be an overcomer.”

ABOUT OVERCOMER

Overcomer was quite a journey for me. As I have mentioned on the site before, the concept that the church would be here during at least a portion of the antichrist’s global persecution is a truth that I have embraced and worked through my mind for over a decade – nearly two. So writing The Appearing was simply an exercise of my imagination, placing my church in the middle of the last days and watching us respond. Now I need to note here as many have written and asked, my church does not own land in North Carolina nor have we built out a cave system. That’s the bad news. The good news is that with the economic and global events that have recently been brought into light, my church is becoming more proactive in its preparations – primarily in teaching the people what the Word says and what to look for. I am not sure that whole churches will be able to disappear together, like in my novels, but I do believe that we need to think through our options, stay in the Word, prepare as best we can and rely on the Lord to lead, guide and protect us.
So my first novel came rather easily. Overcomer was much harder because though there are prepared people in the story, most of my characters are caught by surprise. I needed to step into shoes that were unfamiliar to me. What I have found is that it is much easier to write about convictions that you are passionate about rather that taking the opposite approach. So this one took longer to write.

I have spent countless hours on end times websites, looking for the arguments against the prewrath rapture of the church and have used those mindsets in my characters as they struggle with what they are seeing happen in the world and what they believe the Word of God teaches. I do not mean to be disrespectful and believe that I handle these arguments with utmost care, but what has resulted is a powerful storyline, filled with real characters, with real responses and real beliefs. A handful of friends, from all walks of life, have read Overcomer and the most common response is “…I have heard this or that said…” or “…I have said this very thing myself…” My desire is for the reader once again to be able to find themselves in the characters in the story, good or bad, and take a long hard look at what they believe and how that belief has spurred them to action or inaction, whichever the case may be.

One of the nice things about Overcomer is that I didn’t have to lay quite the foundation that I did in The Appearing. I do have a character who gives us a bit more insight into the antichrist, but I didn’t really have to focus on him. If someone has not read the first novel, some things might seem a bit foggy, so I do suggest you read them in order. But for those of you who have read The Appearing this one should be very fun for you. My husband, David, as well as my agent and editor all say this is their favorite of the two. I’m not sure why, but I would love for you to read it and let me know what you think!

So, here we go – round two. May God bless you as you read. May He stir your heart to search His Word and prepare for His coming. There is a great peace that comes with understanding of the last days and my prayer is that He fills your heart with peaceful anticipation for what the future holds. More than ever I believe we are racing toward that blessed event, though to get from here to there is going to be quite a trip. The only way to survive the coming great tribulation is to heed the call of Colossians 3:1-4:

“Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth. For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.”

Therefore we also have as our ambition, whether at home or absent, to be pleasing to Him II Corinthians 5:9
